Echolocation

Recently I was able to start doing citizen science bat research using Wildlife Acoustics’ Echo Meter Touch. Check out their website here. I use the Echo Meter Touch and plug it into an iPad or iPhone and the app lets me hear the bats! I then can see the bat echolocation calls in real time on the screen and know which species of bat is hunting in the area. As the season goes on I plan to post my findings on this page so be sure to check back often.

Here’s an image from the Wildlife Acoustics website showing what the Echo Meter Touch looks like.
